Re: Napoleon-agressor or defender?

Several countries - England, Austria and Prussia threatened France with the invasion and tried to attack it. I need to talk about smart writing service sooner or later. By the time Napoleon came to power, these wars already existed. France was offended as Russia was after the World War, as Europe's bet.

Re: Napoleon-agressor or defender?

Napoleon inherited the conflict with several countries during the revolution.

If one remember, revolutionary ideas were a threat to many countries (most of them royalties) and things became worse after France executed its king.

Several countries - England, Austria and Prussia threatened France with invasion and tried to attack it. When Napoleon came to power, these wars already existed. France was reviled like Russia was after WWI, as the pariah of Europe.

Having said that, Napoleon didn't make things easier by insisting to expend France's influence around the country. He annexed countries, overthrew regimes, conquered half of Europe and was a constant threat.

But it was inevitable that accumulating enemies, Napoleon would be defeated one day.

Re: Napoleon-agressor or defender?

Well, for the French people, he was a savior, but for Europe, he was a threat. His country (France) had weaken at the time due to their huge help in the American Revolution, so other European countries such as England, Austria etc took advantage of this situation. Napoleon who was a military started to realize what was happening and decided to take action.  For the French people this meant even more war and death, but on the other hand, they had to protect themselves from other countries.
I personally think that at  the beginning he didn't want war, but when he saw that his army was able to crush any army, he got excited and started to have a huge thirst for power and more land.

PS: Did you know that Napoleon was king of the world for approximately 24 hours!?
